Jonah The Barrier of Bitterness

Jonah is a fascinating choice for this series that we're doing, Broken But Chosen, because we see that Jonah is called by God.

He's been used by God.

And yet he has a flaw.

He has unresolved resentment in his heart.

So maybe you're like Jonah today.

Maybe someone has hurt you and you're finding it really hard to forgive.

Stay tuned because in this show, we're going to be looking at insights that may be able to help you break free from the barrier of bitterness.

Jonah also reminds us that God still uses imperfect words.

And so you may be someone who is gifted in ministry, but yet you know that in your heart, there is something that you just can't let go.

I'm praying that as we go through this show today, this show will motivate you to let go of whatever it is that you may be carrying.

That's right, Michael.

And I know there are a lot that we are going to unpack in Jonah's story.

But before we start with the psychological effects of bitterness, let us talk about the historical background.

Because why would Jonah have had such strong feelings about Nineveh? I'm sure he just didn't just get up one morning and decided that he didn't like these people.

I like that.

So what you're saying, Jonah is not just having a bad day.

You know, he wakes up in a bad mood and he's angry at Nineveh.

And that is so right.

So we need to understand Jonah's historical context.
