League One Review: Risky appointments?

First of all, we'll start with Plymouth Argyle.

They won on the road at Leyton Orient.

Their home, uh, their away run, I beg your pardon, has been quite incredible so far this season.

They're one of the best away runs, uh, across the division, and they continue that.

They now go top of the league, uh, with this two-nil victory.

Both goals coming within four minutes after the break.

Pepple in the 53rd minute reacting quickest as the ball was sort of bobbled around the penalty area, he got it in from about six yards out.

And then Will Evans four minutes later, as I say, headed home what was a beautiful first time cross from, uh, Ronan Curtis, uh, doubling the advantage, and that was the end of the game, two-nil.

A really good victory this one for Plymouth.

Yeah, really, really good and, and touching on the away form, obviously Plymouth's is very, very good.

But there are only obviously three games, uh, this weekend, but in all of them, every home team had 56% possession or slightly more.

None of them won, uh, at all, and the away teams generated 5.53 XG to 1.77. Um, so I mean six goals to two and the majority of the points.

So seems easier to play away at the moment, or at least with less possession, um-

... seems to be an emerging theme.

We're seeing that a lot in the championship as, as well.

Um, and Plymouth's style of play suits that very nicely because that's what they want to do.

I did watch the first-- I was sort of flicking between, uh, the games quite a lot.

I managed to miss most of the goals live.

It's always the way, isn't it? [chuckles]

Yeah.

[chuckles] Um, but I think I had the first 20 minutes of this one on, which was pretty dull, unfortunately.

Um, it was Plymouth trying to get forward quickly, directly, not really able to establish a, a foothold.

Um, I think Olowu did a pretty good job on Pepple, so he had to kind of move over to Forrester, where he got a little bit more, um, little bit more joy.

And Orient tried to play through Plymouth, but really struggled, um, because Plymouth are, are so solid.
