Tedd Al-BoriseniGuestKingTHostWe're going to open up on 9Z.
Yeah.
A team who had the weirdest flash in the pan, borderline elite sort of ranking in the world we've ever seen.
Like they hit number three in VRS.
And I was like, did I miss something? Like I was sat there confused, genuinely perplexed, prepping my notes, prepping what I was going to talk about on the show, thinking, what did they do well in? Like, what was their run? And I checked and I looked, I was like, oh, they got wins in group stages, went straight home in playoffs over and over again.
Yeah, I was just so lost.
And so I feel kind of awkward bringing up this topic because, yes, they did what they do.
They upset some people.
They were able to play some scrappy CS, get some wins, but generally fell apart against better teams in big moments.
It could be quite simply figured out by teams who just prepped a bit and had some sort of control and restraint about how they played and could very smartly answer them.
but they never even hit that bigger peak.
So I felt kind of awkward setting this up as, are they back to being mediocre? And is that an improvement on usually where they fall down to is being back to bad? Like, have we actually seen a slight progress, even if it wasn't anywhere near the peak we expected? What's exactly to make of this 9Z rise and dramatic fall, considering that he, again, number three in the world on VRS.
This is insane.

I mean, it just shows the flaws of the system at times, right? Because you look at that run at the Guangzhou tournament, and the teams that they beat out there, first of all, I thought it would be a one.

They beat Sinners, 3D Max, and then MIPR, Tyloo Alliance, and then they take down Paravision in 3-0 fashion.

That was Paravision with Hobbit, and Paravision, that's still in a bit of a slump.

So I think we could all agree that this tournament doesn't really mean too much.

I feel like the main difference and the main mistake that a lot of people made, and this is something that we kind of discussed on this show months ago, was the fact that everyone started losing their shit the moment that 9Z had one or two good events.

And the one thing that we cannot deny is that they have firepower, sure, but a lot of teams do.

And I still feel entertained watching some of their games, right? Because sometimes they're going to hit a sweet spot with some of the individual performances, like Luchov, for example.

But I think people just got a massive misconception of now they are a top 10. team and they actually have a lot of substance like they have the firepower but this has happened so many times with this organization as well that i don't think it's that big of a shocker right you go a couple of years back they had a top four at dallas and uh they they had a couple of good performances in international events but they every single time fall off now with the ecstasy guanjo thing they will actually as you were alluding to t i think they will be provided with an opportunity to do better than before and actually stick around, let's say, top 15 or whatever, and stay in that international circuit.
