Life has a way of crushing us. We want Jesus to fix the circumstances, change the diagnosis, solve the problem, or bring back what we’ve lost. But sometimes our greatest problem isn’t what we can…
So if you and I are to have belief, if we are to be believing born-again believers, we have to understand what does it mean.
What does it mean to believe? First, believing means insight over hindsight.
You look at the life in Martha and Mary, and how many of us have complaints against God? I do.
I'm the preacher, so I know y'all got some.
Everybody has complaints.
Those complaints usually consist of, if you had done X, we wouldn't have to be worried about this.
And so Martha and Mary are being crushed.
by the number one enemy of life on this planet, and it's not Beals, it's not bad kids, it's not uncleanliness, it's not anything, but enemy number one is death.
It's death.
And Mary and Martha's brother had died.
And he uses this little phrase when he tells them he's not coming.
So he gets there.
He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
So this is an important detail because have you ever met any conspiracy theorists? Oh, they're out there.
I mean, every kind of flavor.
I mean, it's hard to believe anything nowadays.
Well, in the Jewish world, in biblical times, they had conspiracy theories.
And these conspiracy theories, their theory was when you died, your soul separated from your body, but that soul kind of hung out right there.
Hung out right there for three days.
