When Sueanne Hobson weds a widower with a son, life seems perfect, but looks can be deceiving. Behind closed doors, Sueanne's relationship with her stepson is in turmoil, and before long she decides…
In 1977, Sue Ann Crum is trying to get her life on track.
Getting zero support from her ex-husband, the 38-year-old single mom is forced to take a second job at a skating rink to support herself and her 12-year-old daughter, Suzanne.
For Sue Ann to take a part-time job at a skating rink had to be one of the lowest points of her life.
But it's here that she meets a man whom she believes will change her fortune.
Can I get a
couple pairs of skates? 36-year-old single dad, Ed Hobson.
That's a real cute dress.
Ed had recently been widowed.
His wife had died after a protracted and painful bout with cancer.
And so he was doing everything he could to help his little boy to cope with it.
So he started bringing Chris, his son, to the rink.
So where do you work?
Oh, I work, I'm just down at
the plant.
Cute and all, Ed works at the local factory, which gives Sue Ann a bad first impression.
I'm thinking, you know, about moving
Oh, that's an expensive
area.
But her attitude quickly changes.
He
happened to mention... that his aunt had recently left him a legacy of nearly $200,000.
In today's money, that would be nearly a million dollars.
And the funny thing is, he suddenly became much more good-looking in Sue Ann's eyes.
Would you like to go out to dinner sometime?
