When was the last time you checked on the health of your heart—not just your children's ministry? In Episode 10, Tom, Cole, Ben, and Vicki talk honestly about ministry burnout: the warning signs, why…
Tom BumpHostBenHostColeHostVickyHostHow is my heart? How is my heart today? Right? How was my heart two months ago? How was it two years ago?
We're going deep.
I have learned how to have a healthy heart in ministry.
I have learned from not always having it.
And being one of the people who is leaning towards burnout or feeling like you're burnout or talk, is it burnout? Am I just overworked? Like, what is it? So I would say today in ministry, my heart is good because I really work on keeping it healthy.
there's a key word in that sentence.
You have to work on it.
You have to prioritize it.
Our ministry is important, but our heart is important to stay healthy in ministry.
If we want to stay healthy and be in ministry for the long haul, like so many of us, like that's our desire for us and those around us.
So that's where my heart is today, but it always hasn't been there, which is why I'm passionate about this topic.
How about you all?

I mean, this is why I started restoring leaders years ago was because having gone through burnout, having been in abusive, toxic churches where I've experienced a lot of the hurt and not just from other leaders, but from the sheep I lead and I had to do there wasn't there wasn't much out there when I when I was going through some of my worst.

And and the thing was, is at that time, there wasn't anybody really out there talking about church burnout.

There wasn't anybody really talking about where to go when you're hurting, when you're in a hard season.

There wasn't anybody talking about how do you get out of it? How do you prevent it from even happening? Everybody was focused on all the how do you find curriculum and where do you get worship music and what games are you playing and what bag do you carry all your stuff in? And I don't care Fruit Loops for any of that.

I mean, it doesn't matter if you wear yourself out to the point where you burn yourself out and you want to quit.

What good are you to the kingdom? And so I'm thoroughly, I'm a little overpassionate, some will say, but I've done a lot of research.

I've spent a lot of time reading books, listening to people who specialize in this topic a lot because I care.

And that's why I do the Restoring Leaders Ministry to help hurting and burned out leaders that are going through stuff that they can find a safe place that won't cost them anything.
