Allergies, Food Labels, and Why Corn Is Everywhere w/ Jessica Davidoff

OK, well, two questions.

One, do you think the dairy also is because so many cows eat corn? So the corn is coming through the milk.

Yeah, exactly.

So just as we have to buy our chickens and eggs from farms that are explicitly corn-free, we also have to get beef that is grass-fed and grass-finished.

And the majority of dairy is from cows that are fed corn.

So again, dairy is really problematic for him.

We have to be so specific with the dairy now.

And that's the crazy thing about corn.

It's not just... ingredients that have corn in them.

We use corn in America for so many processes and cleaning supplies.

It's a very, very challenging allergy.

Yeah, corn is really hard.

And I learned this making my own products because I didn't realize.

So I've talked to so many ingredient suppliers, right? We have hundreds and hundreds of ingredients that we use across all of our products.

And And so I didn't realize until I started making products that almost every ingredient has a carrier.

And every time I would say, because I wanted real fruit powder.

And so I would say like, you grew those strawberries out on the farm, then you dried them and turned them into powder.

And now there's a carrier with them so they don't get sticky and clumpy.

What is it? And Every single time, I mean 99.9% of the time, it was GMO corn.

And the GMO corn is the maltodextrin.

That's what the maltodextrin is coming from.

And nowhere, this is what frustrates me.

I just did a reel about this yesterday, is that in natural flavors, like literally every natural flavor I have looked at has corn in it.

But yet you never have to disclose that on the label.

I know.
