If you haven't kept up, the South Bay Lakers are now the Coachella Valley Lakers, and they are amidst their own training camp.
Practicing this week, Cameron Carr actually practicing with them as he recovers from his own injury, and they added four new centers on their team.
Now they did waive one of them, Rafael Castro, one that we were actually kind of excited about, adding him late to their training camp roster, having prior to a contract background with the Houston Rockets.
They did not retain him.
Not sure if that was him wanting to leave or them simply wanting to part ways, but he is now off their G League team.
But they definitely did replace them.
Not only with one center, but three additional ones.
He played with their training camp team, played with their summer league team.
That's number one, but only one of four.
In addition to William Kyle, they brought in Faison Fields, an undrafted rookie out of Milwaukee University, coming in at 6'10", 230.
Number two, we have Tegra Ize, coming in at 7'270, undrafted out of Southern Mississippi.
And then number four, we have Khalifa Sakow, undrafted out of Houston, coming in at 6'11, 230, having gained 10 pounds this summer, and freakishly athletic.
They're obviously evaluating some talent that wasn't on their training camp team, but may eventually have an opportunity to make their actual team be a two-way contract.
So, obviously they do evaluate their G-League talent, it's not simply putting out a product and they never pay attention to them, they are constantly evaluating them.
And even their former head coach of their South Bay Lakers is on their actual coaching staff, Zach Guthrie, naming him head of player development from what he's done and the talent he's brought from their G-League team.
This is not a one-off thing.
They definitely go back to it.
So for all four of William Kyle, Faison Fields, Khalifa Sacco, and Tegra Ize, they might have an opportunity here.
So let's quickly go through them, go through their profile, what they might have to offer, and a little bit more about them.
