The God of All Comfort

Um, last week, we kinda took a moment to talk about our job when we come and sit under the Word, is to prepare our soil.

Um, I don't know if you were here, but talked about that, you know, Jesus himself would pray after he preached or before.

He'd say, "Lord, who, he who has ears, let Him hear." Mm, Jesus recognized, listen, your ears opening, uh, uh, I can't do that for you.

You have to seek God to open your ears.

It's not something that I, I can't open your ears for you in the same way I can't prepare the soil of your heart to receive the Word.

So I'm hoping that you took some time this week or today or this morning to prepare your heart to receive the Word.

And we prepare our heart in worship.

We prepare our heart with confession.

We prepare our heart in forgiveness.

We re- we prepare our heart in getting rid of distraction, and we prepare our heart in saying, you know, we come humbly submitted to the Word.

And so, you know, my job is to sow the seed.

Your job is to have soil that's ready to receive it.

Have you done some soil work?

Yes.

Have you done some soil work? All right.

Look to your neighbor, say, "Get your soil ready."

Get your soil ready.

It could be a simple prayer, just a simple prayer, right? To break up the fallow ground of your heart.

That, that you just pray right now.

You could pray right now, f- 15 seconds before we get into this.

God, break up the fallow ground of my heart.

Don't let there be any weeds.

Don't let there be any stones.

Don't let there be anything that would hinder your Word going deep.

I don't want seed that gets snatched up by the enemy.
