Every year the PGRO hosts an open day inviting agronomists, growers and members of the supply chain along to their field trial site.

The aim of the day is to have a look through some of the work that the PGRO is undertaking from descriptive list trials right the way through to minor crops such as chickpeas and lentils.

Now while it's hotting up and harvest might be just around the corner, this is the time of year where the PGRO's team is out carrying out harvest of their own, cutting the plants from various crop plots to have a look at what their work has done this year.

Some very interesting work on the Answers project which looks at nutritional stress impulses as well as some further advanced work on the NCS project which is entering its final year.

We also saw the impact that cultivation and herbicide strategies can have on weed control.

And then the million dollar question, could the chickpeas, which yielded five tons a hectare in 2025, repeat their feat in 2026? Stay tuned to find out the answer to that one.
