Inside the Crew - August 5, 2026

Now, we're keeping track of the standings in phase one of Leagues Cup only as it relates to the MLS teams that are participating.

And last night we had three MLS teams post victories, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Charlotte.

Charlotte had a 3-0 victory over Pumas, so they're number one as the table sits after the first night of play.

Columbus with a 3-1 win, number two.

And Cincinnati with a 3-1 win, they are in third.

The reason why Cincinnati is in third and Columbus is in second is because the fourth or fifth tiebreaker in this whole tournament is the fair play points, and Cincinnati had two yellows last night.

Columbus only had one.

You get negative points for yellow and red cards.

So that's the difference.

Can you imagine if Columbus makes the final four, the quarterfinals in Leagues Cup, and beats out Cincinnati because the difference was an extra yellow card to Evander or Valenzuela in the first game of the tournament? I mean, that would just be incredible.

But we're a, a, a few days away from that.

We've got Pachuca on, uh, on Friday and then Pumas next Tuesday at Scots Miracle-Gro Field.

Uh, Mo Farsi, on the same page as, uh, head coach Laurent Courtois.

There will be no change in the identity of the Columbus Crew.

The Crew will go at these Mexican sides exactly the way they want to.

We know it's a bit different, um, playing Liga MX team, but we don't focus on that.

Who- whoever we play, uh, like whether it's a friendly against Brunei or a game against Cincinnati or a game against Miami or Liga MX, it's the same way we prepare.

Uh, we prepare the same way.

Uh, we go there and, and we try to win the game.

That is Mo Farsi of the Columbus Crew.

Pachuca is the next opponent in Leagues Cup for the Black and Gold.

Game comes up on Friday.

We'll have the game for you here on iHeartRadio.

It should be a very rowdy atmosphere.

The Black and Gold, of course, playing Pachuca for the first time since the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
