The Great SOS Debate - Lauri Shillings by Abdul-Hakim Shabazz
Abdul-Hakim ShabazzHostSo how do you think you did?
There's a few instances where I could've spoke more eloquently, I think, but I think I got most of my responses across that I wished.
There was a lot of, uh, focus this time around on a lot of the ethics issues that have, uh, plagued that office.
We, we kinda heard a spectrum of ideas, whether we should go through the I- IG, where we escalate this to a criminal, uh, investigation.
I wanna be clear, where- what do you believe would be the most productive way to review what's been done in that office?
I think we do need to have a very strict audit of the budget, understand what's been spent and where, and whether it's been approved.
Um, when you've got a current secretary of state who avoids his own budget hearing, it's real hard to understand if that's been approved or not.
Should this be escalated all the way to a criminal investigation?
It seemed that a lot of, uh, a lot of the candidates were running against the current secretary of state as opposed to each other.
I wanna say that I'm here doing the work of the people for this office today, not for a future office.
A lot of my opponents tended to sound like they're running for governor or for senator soon with some of their, um, policy issues that they wanna implement, when that's not the purpose of this office.
