James ThurlowGuestClemens BreisingerGuestHello everyone and thank you very much for joining us for this very important event to launch the Global Agri-Food System Outlook 2020-2050.
Now, why is this so important? Many of us, our partners, in fact, the whole world seems to be in a constant crisis mode.
But it is also very important to look at the longer term food system transformation and economic development.
Now, that is exactly where good foresight and outlooks like the one that we are launching today are so important.
With those outlooks, we can look at different megatrends, how do different countries and economies and regions develop, population growth in different parts of the world, but also technology, climate, and other important drivers.
And of course, there will always be trade-offs between those different drivers and the respected outcomes.
There are different regions, there are different crops, and that's what the book provides.
In fact, a suite of tools, economic, crop, and water tools working together hand in hand.
So thank you very much for the team to pull this very important report together.
At the CGIR, we don't stop at innovative tools, we don't stop at reports, and we don't stop at policy recommendations and events like today.
After this launch, we look forward to work together with our partners to put the very valuable recommendations of this book and its important findings into action.
