She lodged her appeal back in November, and that was the last podcast episode we recorded, and appeals usually do take quite a lot of time to get to court, and it's, it's finally happening.

It's lawyers, judges, no jury, and they just go in there for a couple of days, go through the issues, the grounds of appeal, and we'll get into them and what Erin Patterson says are her grounds of appeal.

The appeal will play out over two days, and it will be a lot of legal argument.

Like you foreshadowed, Dans, there's no jury in the room, so there's no need to break it all down for them.

There are seven grounds in this case, and some of our listeners may remember them.

There's six that revolve around what we call miscarriages of justice, and one that involves an irregularity.

Basically, they have to stay together, and they go through all of the deliberations about the evidence.

The unusual bit about what happened after the Morwell trial, they trotted off to a nearby hotel.

And while they were deliberating, there were police and prosecutors staying in the same hotel, and that has caused one of the grounds of appeal.

That means they go into a hotel, and they are n- basically in a bubble, where they deliberate all of the evidence, everything they've heard over that, what? 11-week trial.

But then at the end of that day, the court doesn't want them going home and thinking about the case or being around other people at all, so they're sequestered at a, at a hotel, like you said, Dans, but they're just there to, to relax, to unwind after the day.

But the unusual thing with this case is that while they were there, they were in the same hotel where there were some police and prosecutors.
