When pornography is discovered in a marriage, the first focus is often on stopping the behaviour.
Filters, accountability software, check-ins and routines can all matter. But stopping is not the same as healing.
In this episode, Johanne and Jez talk about the kind of support that actually helps couples heal after porn betrayal. Not just support for the husband’s recovery, but support for the wife’s pain, the safety of the marriage, and the deeper work of rebuilding trust.
They explore why helpful support begins with safety rather than pressure, why a wife needs somewhere wise and non-shaming to put her pain, and why a husband needs to move beyond shame into real responsibility. They also talk about forgiveness, reconciliation, shared language, consistency, and what it means to make room for God without pretending the wound is tidy or simple.
This episode is for couples who are trying to understand what healing really requires, and for anyone who has felt the gap between “he has stopped” and “we feel safe and whole again.”In this episode we talk about:
• Why stopping pornography is important, but not the whole picture
• Why safety has to come before pressure to forgive or “move on”
• The loneliness many wives carry after betrayal
• Why a husband’s shame cannot become the centre of recovery
• The difference between remorse and emotional collapse
• Why couples need a shared language for betrayal, triggers, safety and repair
• How Christian forgiveness language can be misused
• Why healing needs support for the wife, the husband and the marriage
• The power of consistency over big promises
• How God meets couples in truth, grief, repentance and steady repair
**Reflection Questions**
For the wife:
Where do I most need support at the moment: emotionally, spiritually, practically, or relationally?
Have I felt free to be honest about the impact this has had on me?
**For the husband:**
Have I focused more on stopping than on understanding and repairing the damage?
Am I willing for my wife to receive support, even if that feels uncomfortable for me?
**For you as a couple:**
What support do we currently have?
What support is missing?
Are we trying to heal alone because we are afraid, embarrassed, or unsure where to turn?
What is one wise next step we could take?
