In this episode, we are thrilled to welcome one of the absolute GOATs in the sports medical community, Enda King. Recorded just as Enda was wrapping up his incredible tenure at Aspetar in Doha, this…
Enda KingGuestDani LangfordHostI think empowering the athletes and what you just talked about was a big communication piece.
Even when we do our intel, when we do our draft calls, we will ask, like, how well do they communicate around their body? And a common thread will be, well, they're young.
When I do draft workouts, it's interesting because you'll have athletes just come through And and there's some people that are engaged.
You get to do 18 draft workouts with some different practitioners around the league that are OK at their jobs.
And you can use this as a gathering of information about your body and you can ask questions and you can pay attention.
So it'd be a good time for you to invest in this process a little bit, or you can just lay there and have somebody do a bunch of movements to you and not gather anything new today and learn about your body.
And then when they get traded to different teams, they'll call me back and go, what did you do? Like, what did you do to my body all season? And then they feel lost because they're not empowering themselves.
So I try to when these young guys come through, say, here's two little tidbits.
But but I do think it's important that they learn and then they are interested and they realize, wait a minute, I need to be on this.
And as they come out of college, they're going to have different resources with the MBA that they maybe haven't had before.
So, yeah, I just think, like you said, it's about creating a culture for them because some of the early tweaks to some of this is just learning to do release, learning to do different components that can make a big difference for these guys.
They just haven't necessarily been given some of those tools, I don't think so.
