Episode #106 - Nathan Lynn

Hey everybody, welcome to the Hometown Bluegrass Show.

I'm your host Tim Batts and I am running solo today.

My good buddy Josh is not here with me today, but that's all right.

We'll have you a good episode for you.

We've got a lot lined out and things that we want to talk about.

We are coming off the heels of the first ever Bluegrass on the Bluff Festival in Columbus, Kentucky at the beautiful Columbus Belmont State Park.

Josh's band Southern Legacy was our headliner.

We had four other great bands on a really cool looking stage overlooking the mighty Mississippi River on the bluff there in Columbus, Kentucky.

And wow, what a day.

I just can't even begin to describe.

Believe that all that happened.

But we'll talk about that more, and also we're going to talk to my good buddy Nathan Lynn, whose band the Wheelhouse Rousers also performed at the Bluegrass on the Bluff.

He's a local guy here around the Paducah, Kentucky area.

Just an amazing guy, multi-instrumentalist, amazing singer, river historian, and just is super passionate about bluegrass music.

And we're going to talk to him here in just a little bit.

But first, we just wanted to take a few minutes and just kind of recap the events of the June the 6th Festival 2026 at Columbus Belmont State Park.

I visited the park a lot over my lifetime.

I grew up just 25 miles from there or so, but I hadn't been there in quite a while, so I went a few years ago, or actually two years ago, to a leadership program.

that I was part of.

It was called the WayVag Leadership Program, directed by Mark Welch.

And we had a class of, I don't know, about 15 people that took this leadership class.

And we visited a lot of different commercial areas and different businesses and areas along the four river counties of far western Kentucky.

And the far end of the state doesn't get a lot of publicity.

There's not a lot.

It's very rural, a lot of farmland.
