Are you still asking God for big things — or have you quietly placed a ceiling on what you believe he can do? In this Heart for the Mission 2026 message, we explore what it means to truly enlarge your…
He talks about asking in his name and he talks about asking that brings glory to the Father, glory to God.
You see, how large is your asking capacity when it comes to God? How much do you ask for? Do you think you can still ask God? Or have you put a limitation on your asking when it comes before God? You know, during the COVID-19 back in Hillsong Church in Newcastle in Australia, we had a couple in that church, beautiful couple, both working full time, husband and wife.
But during COVID, both lost their jobs on the exact same days.
So you can imagine the stress that that would have brought losing a double salary income on the same day when they've got their mortgage to pay, their kids to look after, the school fees that they run, petrol, food and all of the daily things that come with that.
And so I remember they started to tell me, Caleb, the husband, he said, we just started asking God.
He said we'd better pay.
He said we started standing on God's word that he's for us and not against us, that we're the head and not the tail.
Well, this is the true story that came from that.
They lost their job on the Friday and then on the following Monday, Caleb gets asked for another job.
He gets employed in another job.
And Caleb said to me, he said, the pay is more than double the previous combined salary.
He said, with better conditions and better hours.
And he said, now my wife can stay home with the kids, which is what she's always wanted to do.
So my question to you today is, what are you asking for in your life? What in the bigness of God are you still believing for over your future and over your family, over your marriage, over your personal life? What limits are you placing on God when it comes to your asking? Jesus said in Matthew 7 verses 11, He said, If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him? Have you ever done that with God? Have you ever thought what's the limit on God? How much can I ask for in God? Can I ask for God's blessing on my business? Can I ask for a better opportunity? Can I ask for my career in this field? Can I ask for a house, a raise, a miracle, a provision? Can I ask for healing in my body? Hey, you might be a girl here today.
Can I ask for a boy that just uses deodorant? I don't know what you're asking is, but how large is your asking capacity? I want to look at a story in the Bible found in 2 Kings 2.
And it's found in verses 8 and it says, And it says, "'Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,' Elijah replied.
"'You have asked a difficult thing,' Elijah said.
"'Yet if you see me when I am taken from you, "'it will be yours, otherwise it will be not.'" Look at this story for a moment.
