The boys are all back together discussing Saturday's poor performance which saw the Imps go down 3-0 losers to Sheffield United. Attention quickly pivots to a difficult test midweek as the Hammers…
We have been trying to put it off there, listeners, if you couldn't tell.
Obviously, I think we were going to Bramall Lane as the best away team in the championship with three away wins under our belt so far.
And to be fair, I think in every single away performance that we've had, you know, in the five that we've now had, I think Sheffield United is the only real outlier in terms of bad performance.
I don't think you can be too disheartened in the way that Lincoln have performed away from home this year.
But from the levels that we have seen on the road so far this season, you know, Bristol, Preston, Bolton, and even Middlesbrough, even though we lost away at Borough, it was a relatively good performance.
It just felt so uncharacteristic, everything from the start to the finish.
And...
Yeah, not a great afternoon for Tom and Chris and the players, unfortunately.
Yes, spot on.
Pretty much what could have went wrong, went wrong.
It's just an awful day, really, in terms of the sort of... overall performance, the results, and the 3-0 scoreline probably makes us sort of wake up, really, and sort of, right, we've played eight games before today, well, nine, like nine championships, if you include Derby County, where we've done okay, you know, we've had a few wins, a few draws, quite a few good performances, but what we saw against Sheffield United was the complete opposite.
We looked... lethargic we lacked ideas no fight no energy you know it was just a really poor day and it's probably a good sign in terms of we're only nine games in And we've stuck with the players that took us up, you know, having players like your Dom Jeffries, your Tom Bayliss in the starting line-up.
It's now a chance for us to go, right, let's look at ourselves.
Let's try and put our new signings into the starting line-up.
If that's Eunice Konak, Mikau, Dan, hopefully Kubis comes back.
Yeah.
But maybe even try like Ethan Wheatley or Olafe, you know, a few players who've not had a meet so far.
Let's try and get them involved and sort of change up a little bit.
But there's no need to panic as such because we have done well in our other games this season.
It just, again, Sheffield United gives a chance to sort of wake up and look at us as a picture and where we can jump from and how we can get up to that sort of levels which Sheffield United had.
Because, you know, they had a lot of quality front pitch.
Players like Patrick Bamford, you know, only a few years ago, he was smashing goals in the Premier League for Leeds United.
