Is home canning really safe? Why are so many families rediscovering this traditional skill? In this episode of *Handmade Happiness*, Jessica and Thomas share why home canning has become an important…
I guess let's start with, like, what are some...
You already mentioned that, you know, canning is your favorite because you like eating the things.
What are some of your favorite things that we can, that you enjoy having on the shelf to just go pull a jar and eat?
Well, I think a lot of people forget that, like, jams, jellies, preserves, all that stuff is canning.
Oh, yeah.
Right?
So I would say probably my favorite thing...
Your holiday jam is... fire like it's ridiculously good it's if you're not familiar it's kind of a strawberry jelly strawberry jam base but it's got cranberry in it and that acid that additional like tartness really just does something for the strawberries.
And there's like a little bit of holiday spice.
And it's got a little bit of cinnamon and cloves, a little bit.
But it's not Christmas at all.
Yeah.
I don't think.
No. It's something you can put on whatever, but it's just got an amazing profile.

Mm-hmm.
As far as veggies or things that you put up, I like the beans.
You've done what, pinto beans?
Navy beans, black beans.
We've done a variety of different
things.
Those always work really well.
Tomatoes always come out well.
Although, honestly, we've not canned tomatoes a lot in recent years because we haven't had a decent garden.
