Uh, both of us lost a beloved piece of our respective teams as, uh, probably the headliner of the entire deadline.

Scott, what was your candid reaction as a Tigers fan?

So I, I talked about it a little bit last episode.

I was there at that game, um, his last start for Detroit.

It was in Detroit.

The team was up, like, six-nothing going into the seventh.

They lose the games in extras 10 to nine.

And you could feel all the wind come out of their sails.

And it is worth noting the Tigers, uh, have been awesome since June 1st.

Uh, by record, they're the second-best team in the American League, 'cause they're not the Boston Red Sox.

And by runs scored, they've scored more runs than any other team in the American League by, like, 22 since June 1st, so that's about 50 to 55 games, depending on the team, and they have 22 more runs than anybody else.

So they're scoring, like, half a run more, uh, than any other team since June 1st.

But still, they decide to make a trade.

I think, you know, people will always react to, like, the return on the trade.

It's a rental.

It's a rental for a guy you're gonna end up having to pay a lot of money to in a season that has some labor questions on it.

The Dodgers were always gonna be the team that got this done, because who else could part with a prospect rated generally in most people's top 25 to 30 overall, uh, and a MLB caliber pitcher with upside and not lose anything they planned to use in 2026? Or really 2027.

Let's be real, right? They, they never actually had to use either one for this year, next year, or the year after.

And then to throw in another dude who's, like, got some upside, uh, as potentially a starter, maybe a reliever, no one else has that, right? They, they were asking the Yankees for, like, George Lombard.
