In the first episode of How to Become a Cult Leader, we take a closer look at the rise of Charles Manson and the tactics he used to gain influence over his followers. But as we watched, we decided…
Yes, I got to be honest, like the way that they're approaching it obviously is very intriguing with these are the steps you need to do.
We don't really like the format.
Like, I don't know, it just feels a little creepy.
It feels too instructional, even though that's like not the vibe they're going.
Like they're trying to make their point.
I think they make their point with the title, but it just feels a little off as you're watching it.
And they're like, could you do better?
Yeah, it's almost like they're making light of the situation, which...
Feels odd because when cult leaders and the abuses and the murdering and all the things that goes on in a cult, it's not stuff you would make fun of typically.
And so I don't love the vibe.
It's like I was kind of hoping they would say this is why they were able to convince people.
But
not this is how you can do it, too.
Right.
But this is also the reason why they always get caught, because they are so willing to do whatever it takes.
And just like Warren Jeffs, in my personal experience, he was willing to do whatever it took, which, of course, led him right to prison or death in many cases.
Yeah.
Now, obviously, they're trying to play off of like, here's all the things that all these cult leaders have in common.
So if you want to be a cult leader, these are the things that you would do.
You know, they're trying to play off of that.
So the things that they talk about are very like each episode is going over a cult leader and talking about the things that help them become a cult leader.
And it definitely applies to all the different groups that we cover today.
that they use the same tactic.
We say that all the time.
People use the same playbook, right? Like recently we talked about Samuel Bateman and how he literally was given Warren Jeff's diaries and a playbook of how to be like Warren Jeff's.
