The museum began back in 1968, founded by Margaret Woodbury Strong, a wealthy collector with enormous passion for dolls, toys, and everyday objects connected to childhood and imagination.
She had amassed hundreds of thousands of items, dolls, toys, miniatures, games, household items, even advertising pieces.
Basically, if it sparked nostalgia or playfulness, there was a good chance Margaret Strong had tucked it away somewhere.
After her passing, her collection became the foundation for it to eventually grow into one of the world's most respected museums dedicated entirely to play.
It's interactive, a living celebration of play culture, video games, board games, comics, pop culture, educational exhibits, and of course, massive archives of toy history.
