Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you can in your job search and nothing is working? When the applications pile up, the inbox stays empty, and rejection starts to feel relentless, it’s…
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for different results.
That being said, I feel like unemployment is one of the biggest tests in human resilience.
You want to and try to control the narrative, but we're at a constant mercy of other decision makers.
Yes, we choose where we apply, what we're qualified for, what we're willing to sacrifice.
But in the end, it's never really our call, is it? We hit up the job boards, but no matter how early we are, we see it already has been visited by over 100 applicants.
We try to be proactive, reach out to as many people as possible, seek the attention of a friend of a friend who knows a guy who's hiring for a role that's the perfect fit, but then they never respond, or if they do respond, it may be way too late.
There are so many obstacles, so many instances that have a potential dead end.
Sure, we can choose to walk away from an offer that doesn't quite hit the mark, but again, it was the company's decision to lowball the salary.
At the end of the day, we're the ones who are sitting on our own little islands having to muster up the energy to keep persisting, keep applying, keep hoping, keep manifesting, keep healing after each and every no. I'm not sure we were made to withstand this much stress and under the guise of constant rejection.
I'm not looking for answers here as it seems way too many people are eager to jump in the comments and start blaming and pointing out what each of us are doing wrong and that's why we're still in this mess.
I know everyone out there who's in the same situation and is trying their absolute best.
they too are feeling the exhaustion and experience every day like it's groundhog day they too are feeling the guilt whenever they take 15 minutes for themselves to rejuvenate before they hit the job boards again feeling like they may have missed something just because they walked away from their computer They, too, know what it's like to see the inbox stay empty for hours and hours as their bank account totals continue to bleed out from every hemorrhaging and festering wound that gets worse as days, weeks, months creep by without a single hope of a prospect.
I don't know what the answer is other than to keep chugging along in a market that doesn't seem to want to applaud job seekers for their efforts.
Nevertheless, what choice do we have but to keep going? Okay, this post, it sparked a chord in me.
