The traditional sort of textbook figure that we put out there for the past 20 years has been about 1%.
Studies going back to the early 2000s found more precisely 0.8%, so we round up.
But actually, more recent studies, particularly coming out of screening-type studies, are for children have suggested that that number is inching up.
And so super common and still not fully recognized Studies suggest that a solid proportion of people with celiac disease remain undiagnosed for at least a portion of their lives.
And if you survey U.S. adults asking, you know, when were you diagnosed with celiac disease, the median age is still in the 30s.
When in fact, we know if you follow infants at risk for celiac disease, most people develop it sometime in the first two decades of life.
So there's still undiagnosed patients out there for us to test for and diagnose.
