What should you actually be eating when you’re trying to get pregnant? Nutrition can play an important role in preparing your body for pregnancy—but between fertility “superfoods,” supplements, blood…
I think this is such an important conversation, um, and I hear this question a lot, so let's start with you.
So tell us a little bit more about yourself as a registered dietician and what led you to nutrition and women's health.
I had a teacher who decided, "I'm gonna teach on this," which is just very rare, especially here in Texas.
I fell in love, was just fascinated on how nutrition affects the body, and decided to major in that in college for that reason.
Um, and then yeah, in college, I just loved my classes on the perinatal time period, and that just really grew my passion for this specific group and just knowing that, like, perinatal life stage is the most nutrient demanding phase of a woman's life, and how the choices we make not only, like, can influence fertility, the health of our baby for, like, the rest of their life, but then also how we feel.
Like, it can impact our mood and set us up for a healthy pregnancy and an even healthier and easier postpartum, so I love how big of an impact it makes.
So you said I started my, uh, practice in 2022, and just really started right off the bat, "I wanna work with this group of women." So I specialized right away in that.
Um, and yeah, the practice, like, just really helped me have that flexibility with working, like, part-time while I stay with... home with my daughter part of the time.
