We're gonna start with one story that's a reminder that in hospitality, supply chain stories go from back of house to front page in 24 hours.

That means we're talking about Chipotle.

Uh, there's been a lot of...

I mean, I guess on this show too, we've been talking a lot about stomach problems for whatever reason.

I don't know why.

[laughs]

But there's been a ton of issues with that, with the cyclospora stuff.

But now Chipotle, right? There's this huge story.

Chipotle's pulling jalapenos over salmonella concerns, right? Um, the brand obv- you know, the brand which has a long history of food scares, s- mi- uh, said its ingredient tracking system identified a batch of peppers that may have been affected.

This is humongous.

I mean, I eat at Chipotle, I don't know, at least once every couple weeks, if not more.

I mean, Chipotle is a humongous part of a lot of people's diets here, at least in Austin, Texas, where I am, and that's scary.

I mean, that means for me, I'm not going to Chipotle anytime soon, at least when I hear this.

Uh, how big of an impact is this gonna have, um, you know, for, for this, for the chain? I mean, they're, they seem to be rolling, but this is not a good, not a good sign.

I love that you live in, like, the burrito capital of the US and you go to Chipotle.

They are good

... other places too.

... to me, this is a, this, this, this story coming out is a little bit like the, um, Back to the Future/Teen Wolf effect.

Like, Teen Wolf would've not been as popular a movie if it wasn't on the heels of Back to the Future.

And so, like, with the cyclospora outbreak with Taco Bell, like, of course, like, the spotlight is on, like, food that messes you up, right? And so Chipotle now, like, basically kind of has, like, "Well, we're the second act." Like, they have to act quickly 'cause they saw what happened.
