[upbeat music] Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to Freestyle Media.
I'm Julie, and I'm one [laughs] of the new hosts for the show, and I'm really excited because this is my first episode as a full co-host alongside Helen, who has joined me today to ease me in gently [laughs] rather than reaching straight out to the audience.
So what we're going to do today is we're going to do something a little bit different.
Instead of bringing in, uh, a guest, as I said, Helen and I are gonna have a chat, and we're going to talk about our favorite training sets, and these can be sets from when we were younger or sets that we've done more recently, but sets that really had an impact and that have stuck with us through the years and maybe that we've repeated or we've never done again and maybe we thought, "Oh, maybe we should try that again." And I think it's really important to do this because whether you're a master swimmer or otherwise, a set can sometimes change something in you, I think, and stick with you forever.
It's not just numbers on a whiteboard or numbers on a board that you've written, but it's actual, like, a moment in time where a coach might have pushed you in the right direction, or it was a set you did a week before a massive race, uh, or it was something really, really brutal that you did and that is, you know, you half think about with dread and you half think about with absolute pride that you managed to do it.
So I think these are good things to bring with us and to share, and hopefully there'll be some real value in this for everybody listening and that you can, you know, have a go at one of these next week maybe or file them away for another time.
So Helen, you have been training in Cardiff for some years now, and I'm gonna ask you to share one of your sets.
So first of all, tell us your absolute favorite set, when you last did it, and what it brought to the table for you.
It's, um, it's, it's really nice to, to have another voice on there, even though I'm still here for this one.
I joined in 2017, so I've been there 10 years now, even though I told them when I joined I would only be staying for two, uh, and I will be back, will be back next year.
