Lanzarote

Well, that's a busy weekend.

So I went to the funeral.

And when I was at the funeral, I got talking to a very distant cousin of my mom's and she was living in Lanzarote.

And she said to me, would you come out and work on my Irish pub called Flanagan's? And I was like...

where's Lanzarote like? I hadn't even heard of Lanzarote.

Do you know what I mean? Back then.

It was a long time ago.

And she said, well, I don't know Lanzarote.

And I was like, no.

He didn't come a cropper, you know, in the Southern ocean off South Africa or some storm.

He ended up high and dry on the beach of Lanzarote in benign conditions.

He was sailing past the Canaries.

He fell asleep.

So, so there, so yeah, so we're off.

So I think it might be quite fun to sort of keep up on the on the on the the golden globe race as we we go around so yeah

well hold on i'm going to take back what i just said i said i like it when people fall like that when they've been too cocky but actually what i'm going to say is fair play to them for because we all make dick moves sometimes including me and you can do things that in the moment feel like a good idea and who knows maybe he didn't pre-plan saying that maybe he just was shooting his mouth off one day because he felt comfortable with a journalist or whatever happened who knows and yeah he he would that's a very embarrassing thing to happen and to get over so fair play to him to come back from it because it would be easy just to go as a say retreat go buy a powerboat or just go sail privately and quietly somewhere but that's pretty ballsy to come back after having done that although you gotta say if there's anywhere to beat your boat Why not, Lanzarote? I mean, it's going to be sunny, warm, beers in.

In the winter break, we went away to Lanzarote for a holiday with friends.

And you're obviously speaking of clubs, and I'd been speaking to Ross County, funnily enough, in Inverness.

Alex Smith was manager at Ross County.

I had spoken briefly to, I think, Billy Stark was manager at St. Johnstone as well at that stage.

So it was kind of tossing up.

where I was going to go when I came back in January because I was moving on in January in the window and we'd kind of picked Ross County just through Alex Smith's connection with Dick and Bert and knowing how good a man Alex was that I thought that could be our next stop and came back from because we had a winter break with the club so guys would go away we came back from Lanzarote and I got an email out the blue from this guy in Australia saying look I've got some clubs interested in you and I think at that stage it was about six clubs one of them being Northern Spirit where funnily enough it's a club at Ferg was it so Spoke to the guy at Northern Spirit.

There was a chap called Bill Collins.

I do tend to go to Lanzarote a lot.

And he likes me to drop that in.

And I was at a bar and we thought, oh, there's no football on.

When I get there, I'm also going to be driving.

This is not Lanzarote.
