Gameweek 7 saw another win for Brighton and Manchester City with other big teams like Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa also earning 3 points. Incredibly, Spurs also won with James Maddison back on…
There was a big talking point in the Unity this week.
I mean, not for the first time.
I think we've had this a lot over the last year and a half.
I'll whack it in here.
It is, of course, DEF CON.
And I did a little poll before we came on just saying, do we think Defcon has been a good addition to FPL or not? There were some big voices in the community very opposed to the implementation of defensive contributions.
Were they the ones that had a bad game week this week?
You said it, not me.
You said it, not me.
Yes.
I mean, you know, there is a debate that has.
There are people who say that counting defensive contribution, you know, moments in the game has kind of impacted their enjoyment of football.
You know, the player pool hasn't changed as much as people make out it has.
You know, we're all just picking now from a different group of players as opposed to before when it was, you know, a similar pool of players in terms of size.
I mean, the poll on the screen shows that, genuinely speaking, from the people that filled out the survey, so 806 people, 75%-ish think that it's been a good addition.
When I talk to people at the pub or I talk to friends who've played FPL for a while, people seem to quite like it.
I haven't really seen or heard any of the more casual players, as I'd call them, massively saying that it's been a big problem.
But, you know, Alex Volo, for example, is very, very, very vocal about Defcon.
One of his big problems he had was the fact that the contribution points didn't update in time for the game week.
But that's been fixed this year.
There'll be a lot of people watching this who are wondering why their auto subs are taking so bloody long to come in.
That's something Mark needs to sort out.
It's absolutely ridiculous.
But the reason for that... is they're waiting for the Opta data to come in so they've got the best idea of things like Defcon.
So you can't use that as an excuse now.
