Jonathan WilsonPANELIST
18:08
Are they as bad as they are now because they didn't bring in a left-back? No.
Jack Pitt-BrookeHOST
18:11
The amount of explanatory weight that the failure to sign Lewis Hall has been asked to bear this season.
Jack Pitt-BrookeHOST
18:17
Lewis Hall's
Jonathan WilsonPANELIST
18:18
good, but the people go on about he's almost the cause.
Jonathan WilsonPANELIST
18:23
No, but I think the point is he's a symbol of our failures in the market.
AndyHOST
14:23
Liverpool, not a bad pick long term, but you're not going to buy them before Arsenal.
AndyHOST
14:27
And who wants to bring in a Newcastle defender right now? If you've got Lewis Hall, like me, you can absolutely start him this week, but I wouldn't be buying him.
AndyHOST
14:33
So you get the point.
AndyHOST
14:34
You can sit there and say, well, Brighton's not an easy fixture.
Joe LepperHOST
45:42
He's getting the Defcon points every other start.
Joe LepperHOST
45:44
Lewis Hall, same thing.
Joe LepperHOST
45:46
And Jacquet, we mentioned there.
Joe LepperHOST
45:48
Once again, Defcon every other start.
Mark SuthernsGUEST
46:23
Tarkowski and Everton have kind of struggled a wee bit more recently, so I don't like him as much.
Mark SuthernsGUEST
46:27
He obviously started the season really strongly.
Mark SuthernsGUEST
46:30
And you have Lewis Hall.
Mark SuthernsGUEST
46:32
kind of maybe unexpectedly did well again the weekend Newcastle keeping that clean sheet but it was against Crystal Palace so maybe not a huge surprise but he's just been great I was having a wee look at Jacquet this morning actually because he's a similar price to the other Defcon guys if Liverpool could just tighten up a wee bit at the back I would be a lot more interested and I think at the moment looking at this table you don't pay the money for Van Dijk over Jacquet he's doing quite well for Defcon as well but Yeah, it's a usual suspect for me.
Wayne RooneyHOST
52:56
the problem is I think you look at it and you say Alex Ferguson is best Guardiola Guardiola Marino is best they couldn't come into this team and fix it so it takes time and that's where the club has been left by bad decisions right from the top all the way to the football club that's where the club has been left and it's going to take an enormous amount of work to fix it
Mark GoldbridgeHOST
53:26
I'll tell you what I would say, the one person I think, and it's mad to me because if you said to, if I said to you now, we can buy Lewis Hall for £25 million, we'd both do it because it's a great, great bargain.
Mark GoldbridgeHOST
53:39
Unai Emery probably cost you £25 million to get out of Villa.
Mark GoldbridgeHOST
53:42
But four years ago, he went into Villa after Gerrard and they were in a right mess.
Gianni ButticèHOST
9:18
Great in attack, but I still think vulnerable at the back.
Gianni ButticèHOST
9:20
Aston Villa there and Newcastle for those that own Lewis Hall.
Gianni ButticèHOST
9:24
I'd be selling you Newcastle assets despite a good win at Palace.
Gianni ButticèHOST
9:27
And I'd be looking at Aston Villa going, yeah, I'm more interested in the attack than the defence.
Mark McGettiganHOST
17:55
He wanted older players at centre-back.
Mark McGettiganHOST
17:59
and he noted that the rest of the squad was pretty young so quite an interesting approach there but he was quite happy and obviously they got the clean sheet so basically Newcastle centre-backs you can't touch them now because there's four of them and any two of them can play in any given game week so if you want a Newcastle defender it is very much Lewis Hall at left back.
Mark McGettiganHOST
18:16
Delage has been good but again we'll have competition from the likes of Lewis Hall is definitely the standout there.
Mark McGettiganHOST
18:24
There was Defcon for Gabriel.
Mark McGettiganHOST
18:26
There was a question about Mr. Gabriel later.
Laurie WhitwellPANELIST
61:50
spend it, isn't it, Andy? Because if you look at the Andre Santos one, 50 million, I mean, I was reserved on making judgment on that and I agree it's an early stage in his career and he's 22, but it's difficult to see why that was the choice made right now.
Andy MittenPANELIST
62:04
Yep, and the left back, I said it right from the start, you know, fans got excited, Lewis Hall or someone else, And then when nobody comes in, straight away you're like, whoa.
Andy MittenPANELIST
62:14
And then when Luke Shaw's injured, it just compounds it.
Andy MittenPANELIST
62:18
I still think the centre forward as well.
Laurie WhitwellPANELIST
66:10
I'm not sure exactly how much.
Laurie WhitwellPANELIST
66:11
I believe in...
Laurie WhitwellPANELIST
66:13
the region of a few million to get him and so that I think is a consideration amidst all this as well and I don't think I think he did pretty well in Newcastle in terms of getting a good salary his assistant Jason Tindall as well so I think there's a financial consideration in all this as well as obviously the potential cost of dismissing Michael Carrick so In a world where United are withdrawing from going from a left-back, ironically Lewis Hall at Newcastle was obviously top of their list, or a striker, then changing managers in this way, or head coaches rather, comes at a cost.
Laurie WhitwellPANELIST
66:48
I'm fascinated to see where that goes and whether that's part of the discussions as to why we haven't had a definitive answer at this moment.
DevinHOST
1:38
So Gabrielle's owned by about 22%, but I think a lot of those are inactive, honestly.
DevinHOST
1:44
Lewis Hall, he's owned by 20%, and Esri Kansa also owned by about 20%.
DevinHOST
1:50
And then looking at the midfielders, we've got Morgan Rogers owned by 50% of teams, Pascal Gross by 46% of teams, Ryan Cherky owned by 39% of teams, Cole Palmer, 28% of teams, and Bruno Fernandes, owned by 25% of teams.
DevinHOST
2:07
But I think this one is kind of similar into the case of Gabrielle, where a lot of people had him game week one.

10 MINS LATER

DevinHOST
12:11
But I don't I just don't want that mess.
DevinHOST
12:13
So Gavardial, that would actually be a sell for me.
DevinHOST
12:16
Moving on to Lewis Hall, who is owned by about 20% of teams currently.
DevinHOST
12:22
I think a lot of people have soured on him.
AshHOST
18:47
Has any of them had a good 90 minutes and controlled a game?
AzHOST
18:50
But again, could be a coaching issue, right? If we had signed, I don't know, Danny Welbeck and Lewis Hall, would it really have been that different? I don't think so.
AshHOST
18:59
No, we still would be in turbulence, but we'd probably have more points on the board.
SteveHOST
19:04
We were playing Aiden Heaven at left-back and, yeah, Dalot at left-back.
AshHOST
19:06
I'll tell you what, Dalot had a lot of the ball in good positions yesterday.
AshHOST
19:11
And, yeah, that 60 million that we bought land with... could have been better spent on Lewis Hall because you know at least you're competitive to maybe get fifth and bank another hundred million next season an example Ed's mentioned
AzHOST
19:25
there
AshHOST
19:25
why is
Kevin NolanGUEST
10:05
I thought if he had another year of just full of getting a couple of more players in, a couple of more players in, they didn't sort of back him in the summer.
Kevin NolanGUEST
10:14
He wanted Lewis Hall at Newcastle United.
Kevin NolanGUEST
10:16
They didn't go and get him.
Kevin NolanGUEST
10:17
So that was sort of alarm bells going there.

18 MINS LATER

Kevin NolanGUEST
28:09
He's done the Middlesbrough job, as Faz said earlier, and then he's gone into Man United now.
Kevin NolanGUEST
28:16
So there's a lot there when you're trying to get maybe deals over the line.
Kevin NolanGUEST
28:20
Was that a reason why they didn't get a Lewis Hall over the line at the beginning of the season when Michael was the reason why they didn't get a number nine? They come out and said, no, we're going to build from front to back.
Kevin NolanGUEST
28:31
I know maybe that was to try and give them time off the back of what they'd done last year.
