Well, that was a movie.
Hello and welcome back to First Thoughts.
I'm Simon, this is Justin, and today we're giving our first thoughts on The Back Rooms, which was the A24 film marking the debut of Kane Parsons as a filmmaker.
If you don't know who he is, he got notoriety for doing his Back Rooms series on YouTube.
If you don't know what The Back Rooms are, they started as this little horror thing on Reddit that blew up into a phenomenon on social media and so on and so forth.
If that still doesn't help, essentially it is about a character, the person who supposedly wrote this first Reddit story, who accidentally clipped into the back rooms, which was just an expansive series of rooms and hallways, and he couldn't get out.
So yeah, it's kind of akin to something like, I guess not quite Slender Man because that was like a creepypasta and there was some other stuff involved.
But like one of those things, social media things gets turned into a horror movie.
And there was a big...
Social media push for this guy.
I mean 824 was behind it But also just like the marketing for this film being like look he you know, he's only like 20 years old Isn't this crazy isn't this cool? He made the sets himself with blender and they rendered it and stuff and all the sets were so big crew and cast were getting lost on set isn't that fun and then you know you you watch the movie and I think we watched a movie.
