So taking off where Carrie's story started, ultimately, we spent a lot of maternity leave together, and we were just sort of trying to solve the world's problems.

There were a couple company ideas before this, really all centering around, like, shopping and commerce and local commerce.

It was some huge part of my identity, just sitting at the dinner table, hearing the rise of Amazon and what it was doing to their business and their friends' businesses, and really just seeing their passion for it for 40 years of my life.

And then ultimately through COVID, they lost their business, you know, along with hundreds of thousands of other small businesses across the country, and that's when things just started sparking like crazy for Carrie and I.

And, and believe it or not, we had been tossing around some ideas about how to solve this problem of shopping in alignment with your values, shopping small.

Why is it so hard? Why is everybody just buying on Amazon? And basically, we were both waking up in the middle of the night in our own homes for our babies, pretty much.

We each had one-year-olds at the time, and in the middle of the night, the sort of solution to the problem came to me.

She woke up at four in the morning, saw the business names, trademarked Goodbye by the time I was awake in the morning, and we got off and running, and within, I think it was, like, a month and a half, we had already raised our first check and left our jobs to start Goodbye.

I think this is, again, a really productive use of this time that you sort of had to be conscious in the middle of the night.
