The reason why this topic came up is that I've seen it in my work a lot recently.
My work with clients, students, mentees, session after session over the last two weeks, I think the message is surrender.
Surrender in the path, surrender to the outcome, stop trying to control what happens next or what the outcome is going to be.
And I think that surrender is one of those spiritual words that sounds beautiful, serene, peaceful until you're actually asked to do it.
Because surrendering sounds good and great when everything is going as planned, when the plan is executing as it's supposed to.
But it's a lot harder when you don't know what's going to happen with your relationship, with your career, with your family, with your business, maybe even within your spiritual development.
Whatever your it is, I'm air quoting your it, whatever your... your theme is that you're trying to control.
What if this happens? What if that happens? What if I make the wrong decision? What if this isn't my path or I choose the wrong path? And I think this is where we misunderstand what surrendering means.
Surrender doesn't mean that you stop making decisions for yourself or that you stop taking action.
Surrendering means that you stop believing that you can control everything that happens after that decision or that action is made.
When I say that I have surrendered in my life, I don't mean that I've stopped participating.
