Today, I will read you an article by a journalist, who was present at the memorial service for my husband. Of all title choices this was his, “Jubel im Tod”, in English, “Rejoicing in Death”. I hadn’t…
Kristine van DoorenHostIn John chapter 14, the disciples were troubled because he told them that he will be leaving soon.
They had no idea that he was speaking of his death when he said, "'I will prepare a place for you.'" And when the disciple Thomas said to him, Lord, we do not know where you are going.
Over and over, Jesus talked about heaven, teaching them to pray to the Father in heaven.
He told his followers to rejoice when persecuted, because great is your reward in heaven.
He urged them to store up treasures in heaven, rather than earthly wealth.
And on the night before his death, he comforted his friends by saying in John chapter 14, In my Father's house are many rooms.
Just a quick review of the words of Jesus, who said of himself, I am the life, should be enough to give us understanding and confidence about the purpose of life.
Believers want to hear about the abundant life that comes from their faith rather than what the scriptures actually teach.
This is what I wrote six years after Thomas's death for the end of my book.
The wonderful thing about life is that all the tests of faith are for a purpose.
Through them we learn patience, experience, and hope that makes us not ashamed.
In the twinkling of an eye, all those who love him will see him face to face.
These words in Psalm 23 give me more comfort than any person or possession in life could ever fulfill.
He leads me to green pastures and makes me to lie down beside still waters.
Sometimes in the night when I look up into the starry sky and think about life, a melody comes to my mind.
Recently, it is the words of a song my daughter Debbie wrote that encouraged me.
