Kristine van DoorenHostSo this subject brings me to the month of August, 1999, which was 11 years after the stories that I have talked about so far.
Our two oldest daughters, Naomi and Esther, both got married in July of that year.
Lizzie and Miriam were both in colleges in the UK, and Debbie, who was 13, was in high school.
During those years, Thomas had been battling cancer, which included a back operation that left him temporarily paralyzed in his legs.
With much determination and intense physical therapy, he had learned to walk again and returned to work after only three months.
In my German autobiography, Das Lied meines Lebens, I wrote his story, but I have not come to that part of our lives in my podcast yet.
Music was still at the forefront of our lives, but we found ourselves also occupied with pursuing natural healing methods.
Added to that, we spent much time as a family praying, fasting, and studying the Bible on the subject of healing.
The pastor of the church we were going to had even brought the famous pastor, Brian Houston, to pray for Thomas.
We went to various healing services in Munich, where John Wimber's followers brought their prophets.
He told us that he doesn't see miracles in Europe, but he did pray for Thomas, and then he told him to follow the doctor's advice.
A man that we knew offered to pay for Thomas to fly to Argentina because of reports about a great revival and miracles happening there.
Thomas was reluctant to go because he believed that God could heal him anytime and anywhere.
But in trying to be open to this generous offer, he took Lizzie with him on that trip.
When they got to the venue of the so-called Revival Center, they saw crowds of people, but no clear healings or preaching of the gospel.
