What can a wife do if she is forced to take the responsibilities of the head of the household? RESOURCES: Master marital communication: https://speak.fiercemarriage.com Take the 31-Day Pursuit…
Uh, "I'm struggling with the biblical way a marriage is supposed to be when, as the wife, I'm the main financial support.
I have the steady job, make the prior- make the majority of the money," excuse me, "provide the healthcare benefits, and pay the bills.
He also has developed a chronic illness that has severely impacted him, uh, in providing for our, the family, so our roles have changed.
We still struggle financially because my income still isn't enough, and he needs to find another trade, but all he has ever known is construction, and g- he gets discouraged and depressed.
As a wife, I have a deep longing for him to be the provider and for me to feel security financially.
I'm struggling with the upside down un-biblical role reversals, and it's made me have a hard time of seeing him as the head of the household.
I love him, but how can I be that biblical wife that supports her head, her husband, when I'm doing both his job and still the main one that keeps the home running smoothly? He does make dinner every night and makes sure the kids get to all their activities, but I make sure the home is clean, laundry's done, bills paid, family functions, the list goes on and on.
He says when I'm around, he gets motivated, but I can't be around all the time or the source of his motivation if I'm so busy picking up the slack.
I did discover he had a porn addiction earlier this year, and that has made me have some bitterness, and we have just started marriage counseling after I had asked him for a separation but both agreed to work on issues and get marriage counseling.
He says he gave up the porn and asked for forgiveness from God because my getting ready to leave him scared him really bad.
I do believe he has given it up, but still at times worry and have some trust issues for sometimes when he is home by himself all day while I'm at work.
One of our most recent fights was because he doesn't feel like I value his opinions.
I have been working on myself, but I'm really struggling with how I'm supposed to be the submissive wife that allows my husband to lead the family when I'm the default provider and head of the family and provision.
How can I trust him to lead the family when I'm the only one making, when I'm the one making sure we are clothed and fed? How can I look to him as the head when he isn't the main provider? I honestly am struggling with this concept and need godly guidance."
