In Miss Adamson's American Studies class, the, the 10th grade class that was, that really changed my literary eye.

Uh, and it was sort of like she let us pick, and I was really into jazz, and so I was a- attracted to the title and to the cover.

Um, so I read it then, and then I read it again in college for a Toni Morrison seminar that I took with a really smart professor who was, like, a Toni Morrison scholar.


I've, I've told this story before on, on the podcast, but I, um, I somehow managed to get to grad school.

I went to grad school at Georgetown, so I also love the DC stuff in your books, Shannon, [laughs] um, without having read any Toni Morrison.

She never appeared in any of my, in any of the curriculum of any courses that I took, which I, I'm still mad about, because at this point I still have never taken, like, a class on Morrison.
