This week on Fashion Is My Foreplay, I’m joined by Ben, the creator of Brighton’s brand new monthly queer night: Dirty Talk This episode is a little different, more of an event special, where we…
I've been talking to a few people about this and I feel like drinking and drinking culture has just changed.
Changed massively.
So much.
So much.
The price.
I mean, I don't even drink anymore, but like I've bought my partner pints and I'm like, I'm sorry, what? You pay this much? And then obviously lockdown.
But also I think like if you look back at sort of like the 2000s or like the
2010s,
um who are the the the sort of like the british people the british icons that the influencers katie price let's use her as an example she's going out she's getting drunk
people getting packed in clubs getting packed falling out of taxi with like a tit hanging out like and that
was the
culture back then but you wanted to be like them
yeah now if you look at any of the influencers the love island girls anything like that i'm using that as a comparison of who um back in the 2000s you know it's all about health it's all about like you would never get seen getting absolutely smashed anymore
and when you do see the pictures of them like out drinking or smoking a cigarette you're like oh my god
yeah that
person from love island's like having a cigarette
yeah and i feel like that trend has really kind of had such a big hit on i know so many people that don't drink anymore
for sure and like obviously drinking binge drinking is bad whatever but like yeah the industry has struggled with that I feel like TikTok and stuff has just made health and wellness a really big thing and I think that's great for like people like our age
yeah
that's fine we probably should stop partying a bit but like students 19 20 year olds who are like it's their
time
make party, like, have fun, like, make mistakes, like, you know, kiss the wrong person in the club, make new friends in the smoking area, like, I want to see you do it, because you've got all the time in the world to go to yoga, you know, like, it's fine, or do both, it's all about balance, but, like, yeah, I think... know when i was at uni it was like you'd almost want to be out the most i'd be like yeah five times this week like show it off
oh my god me too
and like you'd be putting them on your snapchat and instagram story of you going out as much as possible when my stories from uni are like feral like i would never post anything like that now but like you were showing off like videos of your friends in the club and whatnot but now i feel like it is more like people want to portray themselves on social media it's like okay i'm at my 9am yeah i'm doing uni work i'm having a coffee in the coffee shop i'm I don't know, paint and sip, I don't know, things like that.
Like there's a lot, there's a different culture now.
I've been talking to a few people about this and I feel like drinking and drinking culture has just changed.
