Jim Ellis told me a long time ago, back when I first started, he's like, "Let me tell you something about baseball.
If you live and die by every single game, the wins and the losses, it'll drive yourself crazy."
And now you get to this point where you're just like the other s- you know, 63 teams where you got a chance to win a national championship.
Uh, you know, a- and one thing you said that I remember Coach Polk told us, we started the regional in Maine my first year.
He said, "We're 64 teams, and only one of us are gonna finish the year with a win." And you kinda start thinking about it, well, I guess he's right, you know? But, uh, you know, I, I think as far as the way this season's gone, I mean, I, I think we lose sight of the fact of how big losing Ryan McPherson was.
And, you know, for a couple weekends after we lost Ryan, we, we really didn't miss a beat.
And then all of a sudden it started showing up, and, and I think that kinda threw the pitching staff a little bit in chaos.
Um, but we were able to, like I said, just kinda do enough, and now we're hopefully getting him back healthy.
Um, and, and there was a lot of games out there that we left on the table that we, we probably should've won.
You look at one play here or there, a pitch that just you didn't make, or you didn't make a play, you didn't drive a guy in from third base.
Um, and it's a difference in, in probably being a national seed and just hosting.
Uh, but all that being said, they s- they did enough to get them to where they're at now.
You've got your one through six guys, and if all you were trying to do is win one game, we're just fine.
