Bart Gregory, Charlie Winfield and Jay Hopson discuss State's 56-23 loss to No. 7 Alabama.
Jay HopsonGuestCharlie WinfieldHostBart GregoryHostAnd, uh, guys, you look at this game, and we knew we were gonna have to make plays because Alabama offensively is an explosive offense.
Today was one of those days where you just can ill afford to have mistakes, and we- Alabama forced some mistakes, but we had some, some of our own undoing.
And when you make mistakes like you made today, it just makes it tough to, to overcome that hurdle.
I think my summary of this ballgame is this: You didn't make enough plays, and the guys who could make plays for you weren't out there as long as you needed them to.
There were way too many guys in boots, way too many guys in the tent, headed in the locker room, and things like that.
And in college football today, this isn't just us, it's across the country, depth is scarce.
And when Fluff Boswell goes out of that game early, let me be clear, it was gonna be an uphill climb with Fluff and Boswell.
The- Alabama was a better football team today, and there's not much debate that can be had or excuse about that.
But whatever chance you were gonna have kind of went out with the game, I thought, with him, and, uh, a quarterback that just wasn't able to move around today.
You could tell, you know, Kamario wasn't there from a, from a standpoint of just didn't have the legs.
It looked like it was his right leg, and you start thinking about playing off that foot.
And, you know, Coach, you look back at the game, and then you saw early on when you fell behind 14 to nothing, you came down, you drove down, and you scored.
I go back and look at that second, uh, second quarter play to Anthony Evans on the far side.
He had him open, leads him out of bounds a little bit, and that started a string where Ka- Kamario was five of his next 14.
