When I started this podcast in July of 2019, I will be honest with you, I did not have a seven-year plan.

I had a microphone and I had enough experience and opinions to make me feel confident that if I got in front of the microphone, I had something to say.

But then I also had a belief that the work that is happening behind events deserves a more honest conversation, deserves a platform.

And the earliest episodes were really very much rooted deeply in AV and production because that was the world I was in and the world that I knew the best.

And I wanted event planners to understand what happened Behind the curtain, I wanted technical professionals to also have a place where their work, their frustrations, their experience, and their expertise, and this strange collection of everything in between, including the industry stories that they had, that they could tell.

I wanted to explain how much a single screen can impact an event or why good audio truly matters.

And it can be an afterthought and why the person sitting quietly behind the scene may be holding the entire event on their shoulders.

So then virtual events moved from just something that we did once in a blue moon to a more of a specialized service that became the center of our events, the center of the industry.

burnout became something worth talking about and leadership became harder to separate from resilience and from cognitive overload and from capacity.

And then, of course, AI entered the conversation and it moved from an emerging topic into something that is very much influencing almost every part of how people work today, how they create, how they communicate, and how they make decisions.

I became more comfortable allowing this show to move wherever the most important conversations seem to be going.

Some episodes remain deeply technical, others moved into leadership and into human performance and into accessibility, into identity, ethics, or the personal experience that shapes me and shapes the people around me on how they lead and how they work.

And that freedom has allowed this podcast to grow into something that I could not have designed fully when I first recorded that first episode in July of 2019.
