Nevada Women In Trades update

So some already know that we were established in 2018.

And the reason why I established it was because I was told I couldn't, shouldn't, can't create a nonprofit that helps women to get into trades.

And I also had to look at that I'm raising two young Black girls that are growing up in this country.

And I wanted them to know that no does not mean no.

No just means go around it and go through it.

And so I started this and it was, you know, I was happy, I was excited.

And I thought everyone's gonna be happy.

Everyone's gonna be glad that I'm doing a program that helps women to get into trades.

Well, guess what y'all? everybody's not happy everybody's not glad that you are starting things and sometimes people are not happy because that means you are moving away from them you are leaving them almost like leaving them behind but you're not and that's a bad thing right um they come in and they gatekeep and they and they i call it the gray noise you know and so Those type of things happen, and that goes with the territory.

And I came up with this great curriculum of six weeks, and we help you with your OSHA, CPR, and forklift awareness.

We have over 190 hours of helping with... you to learn how to take the math test, get into the apprenticeships.

And because that's a gatekeeping part that has been a gatekeeping part forever.

And then when I realized that I was like, wait, wait a minute.

I need to help with helping them take the math test because that is a big part of it.

Because if you do not, Pass that math test.

You do not even get an interview.

You hear me? You don't even get an interview.

And the other part of this, if you don't get 75 or better percent interview, on these math tests, you don't even get an interview.

They toss your math test.

So I'm saying this because how important it is to study math, to do reading, comprehension, all of that.

And you can start by going on Khan's Academy.

You go on Khan's Academy and it has construction math on there.

And you can start training and doing that and working on it.

And I mean, all of it, not just a few things, because it has all the things that are going to be on there, like the ratios, the fractions, the decimals.

And so Khan's Academy is the best place to go on there and work on that math.
