EP 37 Student Filmmaking!

Hey, so, all right, so we didn't mention this right off the top, but we actually have an episode, Desmond, on you and your crew of awesome students that have produced an award-winning, okay, first place award-winning film in the Sunscreen Film Festival 2024.

So, hey, as we're kicking this off here, you know, why is this something that teachers out there might want to get into with film production with their students?

Yeah, well, maybe first I should convince you not to because it's a lot of work.

But if you're up for a big challenge and a lot of work, I encourage you to do it.

Here's our award from winning in 2020 for the high school best short film.

It's on YouTube.

We'll link it.

It's called His Blessing.

This year we also got into the festival, and there's a lot of other great films.

Yeah.

I think we stood up to them well.

If you don't know much about a film festival, it's an honor just to be in the festival.

And so we're honored that we got into the festival.

And by the way, if you don't know much about it, for those who are Seventh-day Adventist teachers, this is a film festival that's put on by the Seventh-day Adventist church for high school and college students.

And if you do short films and you're in the Seventh-day Adventist system, you Absolutely, apply for it.

It's in California.

They have grants to help you fly out there and help pay for housing.

And while it's exhausting taking kids across the country to California for a film festival, it's also so rewarding.

Although people tell me I'm crazy when I tell them I did it.

But it's a lot of fun.

It's a lot of work.

It is.

It's the work

that goes into it, the trip, all the...

I mean, that's a big project there.
