Episode 129 - Your Gateway Theatre Company

I'm here with Joe Seedy, one of the Norwich Theatre Scene's creative lights, shall we say.

And they're here to promote a company that you're launching, I believe.

Has it already officially launched? Yeah, in a manner of speaking.

What's official

in the community theatre circuit? But yeah, we're your gateway theatre company.

And we have an Instagram and Facebook page.

We don't have many followers, but then you've got to start somewhere.

So

the name, Your Gateway, feels sort of like it's got a message

there.

What is it all about?

So our ringleader, as it were, Karen Bone, who listeners who are familiar with theatre may know stage hand to everyone push for it to be called your gateway theatre company because there are so many voices in Norwich that don't have an outlet for their creativity you know people who are fresh out of university and and whatnot want to get a foot in the door and we she and we are very keen for this to be the gateway into that world you know it can be quite daunting when you've never been in something before you know those of us who are in lots of plays and how who who do have a strong foundation in the community theater circuit don't struggle but yeah we're doing a film night uh celebration of filmmaking talent in norwich and all by people i've never heard of before are mostly by people i've never heard of before and it's really rewarding to be able to offer them an outlet for their creativity you know

so that's the basic message i think So this film night is officially the first production from your gateway? Yeah,

it should be good.

It's from us in so much as we've cultivated those films.

We've brought them in.

There's two in-house productions, one by me and one by George Leeder, who ideally will be joining us in a minute.

But yeah, but mostly it's

fresh talent who you haven't seen before.

So tell us a bit more about the format of this first film night.

So there's going to be, I believe there's 10 short films all said, each of which will be 10 minutes roughly thereabouts.

And we've got a small bit of stuff.

It's going to be great.

We've got some like straight dramas.

We've got genuinely bizarre avant-garde things.
