Mack, Konnor, and Ryan review their set championship weekend before diving into the highlights from the special lorecast that kicked off Hyperia City reveal season. What new cards are catching the eye…
These are incredible questions.
First, yes, blue-green has been my go-to for the last, oh gosh, six
sets maybe?
Five, six sets? I've thoroughly enjoyed the color combination.
The Mickey Mouse Ward or Mouse House, as it's kind of nicknamed, has been something I've played and tested throughout the set and was something I was looking forward to.
It did start rising in popularity.
One thing I noticed pretty quickly, you know, depending on what variant you're running or if you're including certain cards like, you know, the...
The perfect gentleman, Donald Duckcart, to help out with some card draw or some filtering with your tods and your strike a good match.
Card draw is important, right? And you really needed to make sure you monitored your hand.
And so this boosty combination decklist was something that I had seen at least a couple different variants of it, and I was kind of tweaking it myself.
that i i thought was cool is another alternative to card draw because with the dial duck four four four cost inkable uh whenever you use the boost ability you can put another card from the top of your deck under that card so if you are boosting jiminy cricket which is a three cost three four uh boost for two which every time you put a card under him uh which is important doesn't say necessarily like whenever you boost it just says whenever you put a card under this character you could ink a card from your discard into your inkwell, face down, exerted.
And it doesn't have to be inkable.
It doesn't have to be like the Moana effect that says you can ink from your discard.
I would try and get the two-drop Mickey, the Bob Cratchit, and then drop a Jiminy Cricket, quest with Mickey, and more often than not, people would swing into the Mickey and just knock him out.
It's not necessarily a choice.
and so but when if he if he's banished in the challenge the card can go into or underneath any other card that you choose so when he's banished he goes to the discard the card underneath him i choose to go under jiminy cricket which since it's at any point in time i then get to ramp the Mickey from the discard into my inkwell.
So when it comes to the start of my next turn, I'll be going on five ink instead of four.
And so it was a fun little combination to try and sneak out some extra ink and card draw because then another proponent of Donald Duck's card, the 4-4, is that during an opponent's turn, whenever one of your characters is banished that has cards underneath it, you draw for however many cards you have.
And so you can really rack up some pretty nice draws.
And if they're avoiding banishing any of your characters that have a lot of cards under them, I was running Mother Knows Best and put that thing right back.
And so it would come right back to my hand with like three or four extra cards.
And so it was fun.
And yes, I did get seventh.
