The Chastening Of The Lord | Episode 5 | Unpardonable Sin

So let's start in Hebrews chapter 12 again, verse 4.

You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.

Man, that just bears and needs constant repetition in our minds.

I know I've read it twice, but we need to understand as Christians that God has designed us in the new creation and made us righteous and truly holy in our spirit man, your born again spirit.

is righteous and truly holy.

It's sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise.

And now by the Spirit, we are to resist temptation.

We're to resist the devil.

We're to resist sin.

And the writer here is saying, you haven't resisted yet unto bloodshed.

That's how strong we should fight against sin.

We should resist sin, even unto bloodshed.

He goes again, look at it in verse 4.

You've not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin, and you've forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons.

My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged.

when you're rebuked by Him.

So here again, we have the word chastening and rebuked used interchangeably.

Job 5, verse 17 uses correction and the chastening of the Lord interchangeably.

And so now he goes on to say, for whom the Lord loves, he chastens and scourges every son whom he receives.

So we've laid the foundation that God's chastening is not out of anger.

It's not out of wrath.

It's not out of punishment.

It is the love of the Lord for you that he chastens us.

He goes on to say, and he scourges every son whom he receives.

When we're received into God's kingdom and we're delivered from the powers of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God's dear son, the kingdom of light and life.
