The Chastening Of The Lord | Episode 14 | Spiritual Authorities

God gives us trustworthy spiritual leaders to teach, encourage, correct, and guide us toward spiritual maturity. In Episode 14 of "The Chastening of the Lord," Duane Sheriff focuses on how God uses spiritual authorities as instruments of His chastening. Scripture teaches us to recognize and esteem those who labor among us, teach God's Word, admonish us, and watch over our souls. These leaders are called to speak the truth in love, provide correction when needed, and help believers remain on the right path. Biblical submission does not mean following blindly. Sometimes spiritual authority can be abused, so leaders also need to be accountable and willing to accept correction. Even when leaders fail, God's design for spiritual oversight remains the same. God-given authority is intended to build people up, not manipulate, control, or harm them. We need spiritual leaders in our lives whom we know and trust, people with a proven faithfulness to Jesus and His Word who can lovingly speak into our lives. Godly authority is not a threat to our freedom but a gift that helps shape us toward spiritual maturity. God chastens us through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, and through spiritual authorities who lovingly help us recognize when our thoughts, attitudes, or actions need to change.
