The Chastening Of The Lord | Episode 13 | Holy Spirit

God speaks—the question is whether we have cultivated the sensitivity to hear Him. The Holy Spirit corrects us when we begin moving in the wrong direction. In Episode 13 of "The Chastening of the Lord," Duane Sheriff teaches how the Holy Spirit works in God's loving correction. Scripture calls God the Father of Spirits, and His chastening does not come from the outside through circumstances, calamity, or harm. He works from within, speaking to our spirit by the Holy Spirit. Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Truth, who guides us into all truth. That guidance reveals when something is wrong, grieves us when we step into unrighteousness, and redirects us when we move in the wrong direction. His correction is not condemnation or anger. It is the loving direction of a Father who wants His children to walk in truth and fulfill His purpose for their lives. As we develop intimacy with God, we should become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings. At times His chastening is a clear inward warning. At other times, it might simply be, “Turn around. Don't go this way.” Learning to recognize, trust, and yield to the Holy Spirit allows Him to correct our course and keep us on the right path.
