Well, I mentioned, not to bring down the mood too much from such a cheery elation over food, but I mentioned that I opened the news app and you know what greeted me within half a scroll, not even a full scroll, was apparently there's more than a 10% chance that AI is going to kill all humans within the next decade.
So enjoy your chicken, enjoy your beef options, because that's where we're apparently heading.
No, I mean, look, a decade's a long time away, isn't it? So by that point, I mean, I'll be coming towards the end anyway.
I find these sorts of statements and I know that's all come out of Anthropic and the latest fallout from the executive team and all the rest of it.
I think it is irresponsible by the media running with it to be completely candid, I think.
Now, I don't, you know, it's not me saying I don't think that caution is important.
I think that always is, especially, you know, I'm always banging the drum about ethical AI and doing the right thing.
If they could say, you know, there's a greater than 10% chance and here's why I'm going to listen to that all day long, but I'm not seeing that at the moment.
Yeah, you know what I find difficult to get my head around with this type of stuff is obviously we know that there are exponential risks with the technology that sits behind the whole AI play.
We know that everybody's talking about what they could be and ethics and security and so on and so forth, and very rightly so.
But I think it's always very difficult to kind of pinpoint when you get these stories that come out.
A research has come out of one of these kind of LLM companies who've said that they think X and you kind of like, well, Do you really think X or have you just had enough and want to make a headline and a bit of a name for yourself? Or have you had to fall out with the boss and you're like, F you, I'm going to bring the ship down while I go out the door type of thing.
It always seems to lack a little bit of context as to why you come around saying that.
And then obviously we know that the media, that's their business, right? They take those big kind of scary headlines and they run with it.
But yeah, I think the narrative behind it is I do wonder kind of how people you talked about the bubble, and I know Greg and I talked about that on this week's episode, right? We live inside of it.
